In order to receive, we must be humble. If we don't believe that we need what God is offering, why would we take the time to receive it? Receiving from God takes faith and patience - both of which take time. Faith comes from hearing the Word - and hearing it some more. We only give our time to what we think is valuable; in other words, we must be humble enough to understand our need to receive from God through His Word if we're going to give our time to it.
We must understand that apart from Christ we can do nothing of Spiritual value. We will desire the Word when we know that it's the only Spiritual Seed we need to produce Spiritual fruit. We cannot live lives that are Spiritually significant if we're not living lives dependent upon Christ.
God told Abraham that He would bless him so that he could be a blessing. Jesus said it was more blessed to give than to receive for that very reason - if we're giving, it's because we've already received. A blessed life comes when we receive from God and in turn are enabled to give to others. For example, if we are experiencing the peace of God in our lives, then we can share it with others.
Is your life significant? Are you impacting those around you because Christ is shining through you? Will you leave this world a better place for the next generation? It is time for us to think about how our lives are affecting others.
