Prior
to creation, God moved without human’s involvement. However, God has never
moved without man after man was created. God needs humans to move when He moves
The
Holy Spirit is the New Testament’s spirit. There is no Christianity without the
Holy Spirit. True success is in the spirit. He is our Helper, our Counselor and
it is our relationship with the Holy Spirit that makes the difference. Without
Him, we cease to exist!
Anything
that happens to man, good or bad, happens at a certain time (Eccl. 9:11).
Success in this life happens at its time and chance. Insensitivity to the time
when it comes will cause dreams to die. You’ve been made head of the family
at this time to help others. The Holy Spirit makes us sensitive to time.
It is the spirit in us that is able to connect with the Holy Spirit that moves
us to go out there and preach the word of God in a time like this.
If
you want to do exploit for God you must understand these 3 times:
1.
Nature
of time:
Time is vacant. Each day is filled with
its own consignment. Any time can be attached to evil, but you have to make it
good for your use.
2.
Purpose
of our time:
Ecclesiastes 3:1-11 – You must know what a
particular time is meant for. You are alive because God is not yet finished
with you. You must know what time God has allocated to you for a particular
purpose to be fulfilled. Time is wasted if it does not meet the season. What
you don’t do at the season allocated for it will turn out to be waste if done
at an earlier or later time. Apportion the seasons, know your season, and act
regularly.
3.
Timeliness
of time:
Time is timely only if it applies to
what it is meant to do. Be at the right place at the right time. It is neither
by might nor by power, but it takes only the mercy of God to make us arrive at
the divine time. (1 Corinthians 2).
HOW
TO GET INVOLVED IN THE MOVE OF THE SPIRIT:
1.
Relate
with God Constantly:
Ø
Living
in the power of the Holy Spirit starts when you get before God.
Ø
James
4:8 "Draw
near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you
sinners; and purify your
hearts, you double-minded"
Ø
This
first step is all about intentionality.
Ø
It’s
about you living as if God’s presence is so important for you.
Ø
Mark
1:35 "Now
in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and
departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed"
Ø
If we want
to live in the power of the Spirit, we have to start in God’s presence on a
regular basis, and that takes intentionality.
Ø
Don’t
be surprised if God’s power seems to be lacking, make it a priority to get
before God.
2.
Stay
Humble:
Ø
You
need to empty yourself first.
Ø
God
won’t fill you with His Spirit if you’re already full of yourself.
Ø
God
hates pride.
Ø James 4:6 "But He gives more grace. Therefore He says:
God resists the proud,
But gives grace to the humble."
Ø
Many
Christians will never experience the full power of the Spirit because God is
actively opposing them because of their pride.
Ø
God
hates pride.
Ø
Humbling
yourself is about submission.
Ø
Living
in the power of the Spirit will never come without humility.
3.
Obey what
the Spirit Desires:
Ø
This requires
listening and obedience.
Ø First, when you get before God,
don’t do all the talking, also Listen.
Ø If you look at Acts 13, you’ll
find that the first missionaries ever were sent out when a group of church
leaders were together praying and fasting. Not only did the Spirit
Speak, they listened and obeyed. “While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said,
‘Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.’
So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent
them off” (Acts 13:2-3).
Ø The more time you spend in the
presence of God, the more recognizable the voice of His Spirit will be to you.
Ø When the Spirit speaks, He’s not
giving you suggestions, He’s giving you commands.
4.
Specialize
in your spiritual gifts:
Ø
Spiritual
gifts are absolutely vital.
Ø
The
whole point of spiritual gifts is that they are God’s custom way to exercise
the Holy Spirit’s power in and through your life.
Ø
“There
are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. Now to each
one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good” (1
Corinthians 12:4, 7).
Ø
Specializing
in your spiritual gifts starts by knowing what your spiritual gifts are.
Ø
Exercise
your spiritual gifts.
